About NL Quatrano

I was born and raised in New Jersey - no where near the NJ
Turnpike or the Garden State Parkway.  I do NOT know Tony
Soprano, though I used to
sing soprano when I was much
younger.  My husband Carmine has been mistaken for a
member of the Soprano family, but it's just that everyone from
NORTH Jersey sounds like that.  We DO know where the Bada
Bing club is located on Rte. 17.  We now live in Northeastern
Florida where it's not uncommon to hear a comment about
how funny we talk!

Our children are all grown and have lives of their own, so we
DID manage to survive all of the parenting trials - those of you
struggling with temperamental teens, pray a lot and have faith,
you'll all make it by the grace of God.

I've always loved books!  My dad was the reader in our family -
if he was home from the road (he was truck driver) he was
reading! And to this day, if I'm relaxing, I'm probably reading.
I've been a musician and song writer, a poet and nursing
student.  I've spent the last 30 years as a professional
secretary/assistant at my day job - and  added writer to my
resume in the mid-90's.  Writing is the passion today that my
music was for me during my earlier years.

I've been privileged to travel this writer's road with wonderful
people.  I served on the New Jersey Romance Writers Board of
Directors for six of the nine years I was with the organization
and I have wonderful friends to show for those years! In 2003 I
became president of Sisters in Crime-Central Jersey and
made even MORE wonderful friends.  My writing is a reflection
of this blending of mystery and happy endings and I will forever
be grateful for both of these genre influences.  I'm currently a
member of Florida Writers Association, Sisters in Crime and
Professional Writers of St. Augustine where I continue to learn
more about people, writing, publishing and myself.

In November 2007, I won the 2007 Royal Palm Literary Award
for Best Short Story with "Chasing the White Unicorn," which
was published in CRIME SCENE NJ2 and I'm working on a
brand new mystery novel to be completed in 2008!

Best wishes,
Nancy Q.
